NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa injury forces rewrites for RAW this week

PWInsider is reporting that NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa is currently having issues with a neck injury, which forced a rewrite for RAW this past Monday in Atlanta.

According to the report, Ciampa has been battling a “lingering” neck issue the last four to five weeks. The initial worry was that Ciampa had aggravated his repaired ACL during a tag team match on Smackdown last week when Sheamus took a bad bump over his leg.

As of now, Ciampa has not been cleared for in-ring action. He was originally set to team with Johnny Gargano in a fatal four way match on Monday night, with RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival scheduled to be at ringside as well.

Ciampa is also slated to be involved in this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, leaving his status up the air at the moment.
