Sting reportedly put over Ric Flair big time in the TNA locker room in front of the wrestlers saying he owed all of the success he had in wrestling to Flair making him a star in the late 1980s reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Sting added that Flair was like a mentor to him and that he was the main reason he decided to come back to TNA for another year to have the opportunity to work with him again.
