Tennessee wrestling legend Tommy Gilbert passes away

Legendary wrestling star Tommy Gilbert, best known for his run in the Tennessee region during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, passed away on Thursday at age 75.

Gilbert has previously worked under the name Johnny Starr in Texas during the 1970s and had worked for wrestling promoters Nick Gulas and Jerry Jarrett.

Tommy’s son Doug confirmed the passing on Twitter early Tuesday morning adding, “Early this morning, my dad Tommy Gilbert left us and is now home in heaven with Eddie. Prayers during this difficult time are appreciated.”
