Article on Mid-Atlantic taping venue

Graham Cawthon of TheHistoryofWWE.com sent this in:

We’ve got Ric Flair coming into town (town being Shelby, NC) for a wrestling fundraiser in May. I took the opportunity to write a story for the paper about how Shelby used to host TV tapings in the early to mid 80s and how many big stars once came into this small town: Andre, Dusty, Flair, Piper, Wahoo, etc.

The shows that were taped here in Shelby aired from coast to coast, Boston to LA.

It was the site where Flair made his surprise return to the ring in 83, chasing Bob Orton Jr. and Dick Slater around the ring with a baseball bat, and where the Rock n Roll Express won their first NWA tag team championship.
