Last night during the second evening of the New Japan double shot, Manabu Nakanishi scored an absolutely shocking upset, defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
Nakanishi was long considered an under-achiever, having won the G1 in 1999 and then staying mostly stagnant since then. This is Nakanishi’s first ever IWGP Heavyweight Championship title win.
