Stephanie McMahon on introduction of the new WWE Women’s Championship, female talent now Superstars

Stephanie McMahon wrote a piece for The Players’ Tribune focusing on the introduction of the new WWE Women’s Championship last night at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas and the growth of the women’s division in the company in the last year including the #GiveDivasAChance movement and Divas Revolution.

McMahon talked at length at how women were rebranded as “Divas” back in 2008 and how male performers were referred to as Superstars.

“Our female performers are world-class athletes, actors, public speakers and philanthropists. They’re role models, inspiring and empowering women and girls to be confident and strong. They dedicate themselves to WWE, achieve great success and earn the same respect as their male counterparts. Therefore, from this point forward, all of our performers – male and female – will be known as ‘Superstars.'”
