TMZ is reporting that Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and HBO are being sued for “intercepting the idea” for the show “Ballers” that debuted earlier this year. Everette Silas and Sherri Littleon claim they had the idea for a similar project called “Off Season” back in 2007 and noted they were close to signing a deal with Wahlberg, Johnson and their manager back in 2009. The deal fell apart when they insisted on having their names remain under the credits as “Created By” according to the lawsuit.
A representative for HBO added, “We are confident the case has no merit.”
