Report: XFL negotiating potential television deals with two major outlets for 2020 return

The Sports Business Journal – via PWInsider – is reporting that the XFL is currently “deep in discussions” with both FOX and ESPN to earn the broadcast rights for the football league when it returns for its inaugural season in February of 2020.

The report also noted that should the XFL come to an agreement with ESPN, games would also end up airing on ABC as well due to Disney owning both entities.

Should they come to an agreement with FOX, it would make things interesting with Smackdown Live moving to that network later this year in October.

Vince McMahon, who is touted as the Founder and Chairman of the XFL, stated last January that the WWE and XFL would have “no crossover whatsoever.”

The Sports Business Journal said a TV deal could be announced as early as next week.
